Elise Desdemona, 15, is a sweet girl. Her adoptive parents (whom she had been living with since she was two) were missionaries in the US, but when her mom died two years ago her dad decided to leave the country and go to Africa. He didn't want Elise to be exposed to diseases there, so he wants a good family for her. He would love to remain in contact with her, and possibly see her again. Elise enjoys playing cards, and aspires to be a high school math teacher. Elise sometimes gets a bit melancholy when remembering her mother and father, but she has had a lot of inconsistancy in her life, so she is usually all right.
Angele Flavia is a thirteen year old girl who is in love with life! Her parents died when she was only a few months old, and since then she has been bounced from family to family, due to the fact that she is battling bone cancer. She is a very kind girl, and has put her disease behind her. She loves to play outdoors and hasn't thought much about what career she wants to pursue.
Tyson Oliver and Justin Wallace are English twin nine year olds. Both enjoy sports. Ty prefers tennis, and Justin prefers soccer. When they were six years old they went to a summer camp and their parents never came to pick them up. It was later discovered that their parents had left the country and were living in France, and did not want twin boys anymore. Ty has been able to come to terms with it, and views it as 'their loss.' Justin often feels worthless, but is easily cheered by his brother. They are two remarkable boys!
