[Opinions] Gilbert?
I am starting to like this name even more. I knew a boy named Gilbert in high school. I like it because of Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables & from the movie What's Eating Gilbert Grape.I actually like Gilbert Blythe nn Gil as a combo, I think it sounds so handsome, and flows very well together. WDYT of the name, and combo in general?ETA: WDYT of a possible sibset (I'm still using River) brothers named Norman & Gilbert, with sisters named Charlotte & Anne Marie?

Love it, but...I think Gilbert Blythe sounds great together, it's so handsome, and I love nn Gil. BUT, I think using the two names together is way too strong of an Anne of Green Gables connection. I don't know where you live, but here both names are very uncommon and to hear them together is an automatic association with AoGG. I love the book, and it's a decent namesake if you have one, but I would never do it. I do like Gilbert by itself and Blythe also. I would encourage another mn, but that's only my thoughts.
The sibset sounds good (Norman is not a fave for me, but it sounds good with the others) but having a Gilbert Blythe in a sibset with an Anne, even if it is Anne Marie, would just make the connection that much more blatant. I think it would be great if the mn was not Blythe, however.

I really like the name Gilbert! It reminds me of a character from a book I once read. Not a huge fan of Blythe, but it's not horrible or anything.

When my sister was younger she loved a book called 'Golly Gump Swallowed a fly". I don't know why but Gilbert reminded me of Golly Gump, maybe his brother Gilbert Gump. I think most people will think of Gilbert from 'Anne of Green Gable' but I am a strange one. Edited to finish a thought.

I like it! I think Gilbert is a name that you don't hear very often, but still holds some classic value to it. Gilbert Blythe is very nice.

Sorry, but I don't like either name on their own or together. Plus, since the only Blythe I've ever heard of is Blythe Danner, it's a girl name to me, but I guess I could see it on a boy. Also, Blythe always reminds me of the scene in The Princess Bride with Billy Crystal..."He distinctly said 'to blave.' And, as we all know, 'to blave' means 'to bluff.' So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated..."
