Help[Opinions] Ophelia?
Ophelia. I want to like it, I really do. "Help" is a pleasant meaning (I don't think of it as asking for help but rather giving it). And I think it has a pretty sound.
But then Shakespeare had to use it. Can you see it on a real little girl or is it too tragic a name?

yeah..its too much to contend with ...pretty, but very risky. it reminds me of Opal, for some reason

I also think it's a beautiful name with a great meaning. But I think that it is too tragic, espacially for a little girl.

I don't think Ophelia would fit a little girl very well. A teenager, a twenty-something or an old lady, sure...but not a toddler or grade schooler.
Also, the Shakespeare character ruined the name for me because I disliked her immensely.

I'm just in the same situation as you: I want to like it badly, too, but it doesn't really make it for me. I think it looks beautiful, but it looks much better than it sounds, this is the problem!
Also, Ofèlia (the Catalan form) has a kind of old-ladyish feeling to me, but I think I could see it on a real little girl, and I'm sure it ages well.

Ophelia is one of those names I want to love and that I only like. It just makes me think of a pervert feeling up some girl everytime I hear it. I don't want it too because it sounds pretty, but it does.

I like it, and the Shakespeare thing isn't an issue. But, it does sound like oh-feel-ya, which middle school boys will undoubtedly notice.

I don't associate names with fictional characters. But, I find it to be a very ugly, unflattering name. I see no beauty in it at all. Plus, I think meanings mean nothing when it comes to naming a person, since the meaning won't reflect the person, and the person won't reflect the meaning. Sorry this didn't help you much.
