In effort to conserve board space I've opted to make one all-encompassing post about all the name stuff swirling around in my head as opposed to four one- or two-sentence long posts.
New BabyMy cousin had her first child, a son named
Tristan Kane. (The spelling is unconfirmed.)
Expected BabyA couple who are acquaintances of mine are expecting their first child. The baby, a girl, is not due for several more months but they've already selected a name,
Katherine Margaret nn Kate/Katie.
Prospective Names for Expected BabyAnother acquaintance of mine is pregnant as well. For a son she and her husband have decided on
Charles nn
Charlie, her father's name. For a girl they're debating between
Petra, a name her husband adores, and
Quinlan, a family name they also considered for a son before agreeing on
Charles.
Name Nerd Mini-RantThe other day I was reading an article about a woman who was born a man. She had chosen the name
Julie for various reasons one of which was because it is "a feminine form of
John," her birth name. What? Why would anyone think
Julie and
John are related? Because they both start with J? Can't you, article featuree, think of any male J name that resembles
Julie more than
John and vice versa?!
