This is one of my best friend's names. She lives in Macedonia, she moved there last year. Everyone pronounces it LEE-juh or something like that when they first see it. She was irritated, but she was used to it haha. Her mom told me it was a Biblical name and she was the wife of... someone important I forget who. Her dad is Muslim, though, and at first I thought it was a Muslim name and I was surprised to find out it was a name in the Bible! But I like it. It's a different way of spelling Leah but it's still in the range of tolerable names. I wouldn't have thought of it, so kudos to them!

I always want to say (Ly-Juh) like Elijah. I believe Leah was the wife of Jacob in the bible and the mother of his children.
I do prefer Leah over Lija.
