If someone consciously chooses to use the spelling Rene, and that's how they spell it on the birth certificate, it becomes "right".
(a) Naming is a part of language, not a science, and there is leeway in language
and (b) In the US which is presumably where you are, you can choose any name you like with few exceptions, there are not set rules of spelling
You might not like Rene for a girl, but it makes no sense to say it isn't "right".
