[Opinions] Allegra?
WDYT? I really like it, but I tend to think of the allergy medicine. I love its meaning, "cheerful or lively" in Italian; Since it is an English name, too, I think its a great happy medium to myself being Italian, himself being English.
So do you think it it ok to use as a human name now that the product market has tainted it, or do you think that everyone will think she's named after a pill?

I know of a girl (my sister's friend's daughter) who is probably in her teens now named Allegra. I haven't seen her in years though, and she was named before the allergy medicine came out so I"m not sure if she gets comments/teased about it at all. It's a pretty name, but I can't shake the medicine association. It's not a bad one, but it's not a great one either.

I am Italian too, and I think Allegra is beautiful- has a wonderful meaning in Italian as well ;)

It just reminds me of childhood piano lessons (which I loathed and quickly quit), because of "allegro". I also dislike the obvious word "leg" in the name. I love it, it's always been one of my favourites.

It's a beautiful name! The fact that it's the name of an asthma medication shouldn't matter at all. You may also like the name Aviva.

I love, love, love, Allegra!! It's bittersweet to me, but that's for a personal reason. Don't let a medicine discourage you from using it. It's gorgeous!-Seda*

I love the name Allegra. I loved it before the pill came out too. It does however remind me of an allergy medication with annoying commercials. Because of this I wouldn't use it, but I don't think it should stop others. I'm just too easily annoyed with others' ignorance.
I'm too lazy to think of a clever signature.

I love it. But I prefer it pronounced the Italian way so it doesn't remind me of allergy medicene.-Tara

Isn't that a name of one of Satan's daughters in some movie? I like it!~~The brave may not live forever, but the cautious don't live at all~~

I like it a lot, and I think that it's a name that's great enough to transcend associations with the medicine. I always think of Allegra from the old Nick Jr. show Allegra's Window. She had a brother named Rondo. :)Array

I love Allegra and don't know the pill :)
By the way it is a very old name that has been used since the Middle Ages (or maybe late Roman period), so the pill... yeah lol

I don't care for it. I do think of the medication brand, but I also don't care for the overall sound of it. The -gra sounds very ugly to me, for some reason.

I love it! I used to think of the allergy med, but I love the name. I heard of the name after the drug came out, so it took a little while to get used to! I love it now! I don't think of the med.Do you need any MN ideas?

I like Allegra Caroline... Do you think Allegra Anneleise is too many A's? I like the way it flows and sounds, and then if she absolutely hates it she can always go by the more conventional Annie if she chooses.

Not too many As, but Annelise is very ugly and frumpy to me... And it reminds me of "analyze"...

I'm not a fan of double initials, but it's not bad. I can't say I like the name Anneleise; I know a very snobby Annalisa. Anneleise is also a little hard to pronounce. Would you like an Itailian or English MN? Or doesn't it matter?
