[Facts] Miette
I'm looking up the name Miette for a friend, but I'm having some difficulties. (No listings anywhere) She's pretty sure that is a real name. All we know is that it's a female name and is most likely French--the French part being deduced from the -ette ending. However, we're not positive about that. If anyone knows Miette's meaning and origin, we'd be very pleased. Thanks!

It's French for "crumb," or "morsel." For a nice description of the name as applied to a character in the movie, check out the director's commentary track on the DVD for "City of Lost Children," directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the director of "Amelie."
To me, it sounds like a Dutch diminutive of Mie -> Mia.
In one of my baby books i found
MIETTE-from the french, `Small sweet thing`
but i dont know if this meaning is reliable or not you know what these books are like :)
