Why is the word "fairy" socially unacceptable? Is it a term for something in the US? I'm living in Scotland and it definitely means nothing untoward here.

I didn't think it was sociable unaccptable for that reason, but that adds to the reason.
It's just not an acceptable English name.... You know if you want to call your self Fairy go ahead!.
