[Facts] origin and meaning please
It would be nice to be able to give an answer besides "I don't know" when after giving my name people say "that's different, what does it mean"?

"Sherrod" is a surname, quite common in NC and other parts of the South I've lived in.
It appears to be a corruption of several different names, depending on whether the family was originally English or German.
German: originally Scherertz or Scherer.
English: originally Sherwood
Afraid that's not much help, but at least now you know it's from a surname.
