I like it a lot! Go for it!

I like Madeline so much on it's own, it doesn't need a nickname. I don't like Leni and with Lynnee people will assume her name is Lynn. Some names are just so pretty they don't need to be nicknamified. My dd is Caroline and that's what we call her. Perhaps her friends will give her a nickname, but I won't ever call her by one.

I only like the pronuciation mah-duh-layne so I would prefer Madeleine nn Lena

I think nicknames should be left up to the child - not planned by the parent(s). I don't care for the name Madeline (I pronounce it as Mad-uh-line, and I'd pronounce Leni as would the name Lenny, but I don't see it coming from the name Madeline. But, as I said, I don't think these things should be planned, as the child may not even want a nickname, or might not want that one, and all that time and energy will be wasted.

I love the nn Leni for Helena (HEL-en-a) but I am prn Leni (LAY-nee or LEN-ee). I guess it works for Madeline too then because we have both manipulated the prns! I like it so much better then Maddie though.

I think it works nicely for Madeline. So long as she's not a Maddie--there's only one Maddie in the world for me, and that's final. :)

I'm a true believer that a child's nickname is chosen on the playground. Unless it's obvious like Andrew nn Andy, it won't matter what you call her, if her name is Madeline, more than likely she'll be called Maddie. But if you could get it to stick I think it would be cute. (I also think it would be a cute "just between the two of you" name.)
