[Facts] Re: My Name

I assume (unless your family is Arabic) that you were named after the country, Saudi Arabia. The country's name derives from the surname of its first king, King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud.
I found a site (http://snipurl.com/e7dv) which says that Saud means "fortunate", which leads me to believe that it is probably the same name (with a different transliteration) of this site's Sa'd (Sad -- click for the hyperlink). In that case, your name is a variant of Sa'dia (Sadia) which has the same meaning: fortunate.

There's also Sauda
Sauda is a completely separate African name from the Arabic, but its similarity to Saudi Arabia is so striking I thought I'd bring it up. Sauda means "dark complexion" in Swahili.
