I love it...but I love it for a boy.For a girl...I dont know, all the female Kelly's I know have been kind of trashy. But the male Kelly's have been really nice and sweet. Any I just think it sounds better for a boy in general

I really love the name Kelly for a girl-it's so pretty. I would definitely use it.

It's a little overused, but cute. Unfortunately though, now it just makes me think of Kelly Osbourne. However, I think Kelly on a boy is a huge no-no, unless you want your boy teased. It's changed genders and it's completely a girl's name now.

I like it too, I always have!

I like the name Kelly (spelled as such) for a girl but not at ALL for a boy. It sounds too feminine for a boy.My Mother's female cat's name is Kelly. Her male cat's name is Cory.

Well...We have had some newbies here lately who were suspicious and irritating at first, until they finally got the rules and started abiding by them. ADT's posting style is blunt and sometimes maybe a little offensive to some, and so that may have gotten some people on edge too.I did notice that my posts of late may have sounded curt or rude. Trust me, in my head the posts sound like only matter-of-fact pointing out of rules and general "how we do things on BtN".

Most definitely not. Feminity doesn't equal weakness. "Feminine" as in "lady-like", as in "not masculine", as in "fey".

"fey" doesn't mean "feminine"!It means "Having or displaying an otherworldly, magical, or fairylike aspect or quality".That is nothing to do with being male or female.http://www.answers.com/fey

"Fairylike" sounds feminine to me. "Fey" sounds feminine to me. "Kelly" sounds feminine to me.To *ME*, fey = fairylike = feminine = Kelly.

It's tired and too '80s for a girl, but for a boy it's refreshing and Victorianesque imo.So, I like it for a boy, but not for a girl.

I doubt Kelly was used as a Victorian first name. Irish surnames are a new phenomenon. And when Victorians used surnames, they were nearly always upper-class people using surnames that were (a) fancy English ones and (b) family names, or names with some other definite reasoning behind them.Besides, the Irish were much looked down on by the British in Victorian times, partly because in the British context, Irish equalled working-class and an immigrant, and the Victorians were snooty that way. I'm sure that an aristocratic family would be amazed at the use of Kelly, Ryan, Reagan or anything like that. The situation in the States was probably different, but as you said "Victorian" I assumed you meant in Britain :-S_____________________________________________________________________"Dream like you'll live forever. I said "Victorianesque", not "Victorian"-esque simply means "In the manner of; resembling". To me, Kelly has a Victorianesque air to it, like Ashley and Lindsay for boys. I didn't mean Kelly was actually used in the Victorian era, just that it kind of sounded like it did to me.

It's too '80s for me if that makes any sence. It's alright for somebody else but... I wouldn't use it.

I like it, but only for a girl. I only like the spelling Kelly, not Kellie.

It's pretty, not my favourite, but if I ran out of names, I would use it. :)Stephanie J. Harris
