[Opinions] Francis
What do you think of the name Francis for a boy? I was thinking about that name recently. I noticed that according to the popularity lists, the name has declined quite a bit over the past several decades. That is not a bad thing; that just means it's one of those names that is now an underused but established name, and a great change from the names that are currently high on the lists.
One thing that some people have mentioned is how the name is similar to the feminine form, Frances. However, I noticed that both the masculine and feminine forms have declined on their respective genders over the past several decades, with both now in the 500's on the popularity lists for their respective genders.

It got "old fashioned." Like Mildred, Harold, and Frances et cetera. And the nn Frankie did too.
Francis is in my family (many times over, along with Frances too), and I'd use it myself if I had a son and there weren't names I liked more.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I saw a guy working the cash register at Fry's Electronics with Francis on his name tag. You can never be sure if the tag names are real, but I was happy to imagine it was. And he was about 24-ish, and heartrendingly dark and handsome, too. However I would have forgotten him by now, if not for his stylish classic name.

Well, I don't care for it personally but its not a bad name. I would like it better as a mn than a fn.
I always picture a skinny, pale, awkward boy with this name, but thats just me.

The only form I like is Francis, in that spelling, as a girls' middle name. And even then, I don't like it enough to use it. For someone else it's still quite nice though.
