Luzhin, Zosimov and Svidrigaylov are not names, but surnames.
Luzhin derived either from word meaning "puddle" or from word meaning "meadow".
Zosimov means "son of Zosim(a)"PS: sorry for my bad English.

Thanks for all the help. What about the names Avdoyta, Dunya, and Dunechka? They are all the names for one person. I just can't seem to find what they mean.

Porfiri (see Porfirio), Aleksander, Grigory and Zosim (see Zosimos) are Russian personal names.Grigorievich is a patronym: son of Gregory.Zosimov is a family name derived from the personal name Zosim.Luzhin is a family name derived probably from a place name. It might be translated as Grassman, approximately.Svidrigaylov is also a family name probably derived from a place name. One might think that there was a town named Svidrigaylovo but I do not think somebody can imagine where that town might be located.
