[Facts] Re: Origin of "Ory"
I found a genealogy site, and there are plenty of people surnamed Ory, *and* every conceivable variant spelling of it (Horry, Ourie, etc., etc.). It's of French origin, yes. So I'm satisfied with that. And as for the first name status of it, someone else here has pegged Ori as a Jewish first name. I guess I'll use that instead, and combine it with a Jewish-sounding surname (it's for a fictional character).Ori strikes me as the same type of name as Hiram, Ira, Myron, etc., which are names I find quite amusing - probably because Goldie Hawn gets them mixed up in the comedy "Seems Like Old Times" (with Charles Grodin as Ira, Hawn's character's husband)!
