I've been rereading the appendices to Lord of the Rings, and was reminded that
Frodo's real Hobbit name was "
Maura". (click

Anyway, WDYTO
Maura? It reminds me of both
Moira and
Maureen. However, I like it better than either of those too names. It sounds less whiny to me.
I can't decide whether I'd pronounce it MOR-a or MAO-ra. Probably the first (from
Maureen) in RL, but I imagine in Hobbitish it would be pronounced with pure vowels, more like MAO-ra.
