Help[Opinions] Sterling...for a girl?
My friend who likes the names Phoebe and Nymphadora for girls, and Addison for a boy, was thinking of names for two characters for a story, and enlisted my help. She needed a male and female name, and I suggest Sterling, under the impression she knew I meant it for the male.
She said, "That's such a pretty name for a girl! I love it!"
My reply, "Uh, it's for a boy."
She thinks it's too girlie for a boy, and I think it's much too masculine for a girl.
Well, it'll be used as the woman's name in her story. And, the man's name in the story is Debonair (not my idea).
I had suggested Sterling for the man, and Anita for the woman.
Just thought I'd share. :)

Hey there! I like it for a girl and a boy, but better for a girl because it seems kind of trendy and childish on a boy. It's funny because my cousin was trying to think of a boyish name for a girl in a story she was writing, and I suggested Sterling to her... She ended up going with Reese, though, which I don't really like on a girl but oh well!

It is my personal opinion, but I prefer Sterling on a boy, and is not really my style on a girl. Sorry!

I like Sterling for a girl. I wouldn't use it though, because I've realised that with virtually every accent (not mine) it is pronounced STUR-ling rather than STAIR-ling, which I don't like nearly as much.

I don't like it for either sex, really--but I'd rather see it on a girl. On a boy, it reminds me of an icky kid I knew.
I think Nymphadora is fun, if a bit too Harry Potter for the real world. It'd make a cool middle name, if nothing else. Joan Nymphadora. Elise Nymphadora. Suzette Nymphadora.

Heh. It merits a blink or two on a girl, but it reminds me of Starling... used to know a very nice girl named that. I guess I don't see why not; it's pretty-sounding.
