Lance- it's a great name, reminds me of Lancelot so it has the legendary connection for me. It's also my best friend's little son's name -he's 1 1/2- so cute!!
I definitely don't get the violence vibe from it, even though a lance is a weapon. It doesn't _sound_ violent as a name.
