This site describes Elodie as a French form of the name Elodia which is "derived from the Gothic elements ali "other, foreign" and od "riches, wealth". Saint Elodia was a 9th-century martyr from Spain."
Other sources (which are undoubtedly incorrect) give a Greek meaning of "marshy white blossom." I am seeking to verify that this Greek meaning is incorrect. For anyone with an exptertise in Greek etymology, is there any justification for a meaning of marshy white blossom for the name Elodie, or is this just another corruption/misinterpretion of the name?
