I'm wondering if anyone knows the etyomology of the girls' name Amaris? One book I have (which is normally quite reliable), calls it a "Hebrew feminine form of Amariah - 'God speaks'". However, I haven't come across -is as a specific feminine ending in Hebrew so was doubtful about this.
Another usually good source, Oxygen, describes it as a Hebrew and Enlish name meaning "promised by God".
Yet another reference mentioned its being Greek .... Help!
Thanks in advance,
