According to the site http://www.ai.mit.edu/~ozlem/names.html, Erkan means "blood of a brave man". According to an online Turkish-English dictionary (http://www.hazar.com/), "Erkan" is a name for high officials. If so, I surmise that the name may be related to the Greek "Archon".
