I've been taking an interest in Greek mythology names lately. Of course, they're not the usual mythological names like
Athena. Oh no, they're the obscure ones that I always seem to go for. ;-D
Anyway, for the past couple of days I've been especially liking the
Poly- names from Greek mythology. (
Poly means "many" in Greek, btw.) So here are the
Poly- names I have on my own personal mythology name list. Pronunciations are semi-educated guesses:
Female:1. Polycaste (POL-ee-cast-ee)
2. Polydora (POL-ee-dor-ah)
3. Polyhymnia (POL-ee-him-nee-ah)
4. Polymede (POL-ee-mee-dee)
5. Polyxena (POL-ee-zee-nah) - A daughter of
King Priam of
Troy and Hecuba. A sister of
Hector,
Paris,
Cassandra, and Polydorus
6. Polyxo (POL-ee-zoh)
Male:1. Polybotes (POL-ee-boh-teez)
2. Polychronus (POL-ee-kroh-nus)
3. Polydeuces /
Polydeukes (?) - Twin brother of
Helen. Half brother of
Castor,
Clytemnestra, Timandra,
Phoebe, and Philonoe
4. Polydorus (POL-ee-dor-us) - See
Polyxena5. Polyphemus (POL-ee-fee-mus)
6. Polypoetes (POL-ee-poh-et-teez)
My favourites are Polycaste, Polydora, Polymede,
Polyxena, Polydorus, and Polyphemus.
(Btw, BtN also lists
Polycarp. However, it's not a mythological name and so isn't listed here. I don't care for it anyway.)
