...bur croix in French is of feminine gender. The name therefore shoud read "LaCroix" (as in the case of the artist Delacroix), unless we are talking about a transgendered mutant cross of some sort.
There are scores of examples in which people completely botch-up genders in their pathetic attemps to concoct pretentious pseudo-french names for people and places. I remember, for example, a cheezy 70s TV series (Dallas? Dynasty?) in which a hotel was called "La Mirage" instead of the correct "Le Mirage".
