[Opinions] Irish Highschool Yearbook Names
By way of explanation, my fiance is Irish, and so are his parents.
A few days ago, they were sent a copy of this year's yearbook from the highschool they both attended (I wish MY old school did that for me!)
Anyway, I was delighted because it gave me a great opportunity to see all the Irish names that were currently in use..
I must confess I didn't write them all down, but what do you think of these?
(NB I only wrote specifically Irish names/spellings down... obviously there were plenty of Jessicas and Rachels too! :)Girls:
Ailbhe
Aislinn or Ashling
Aoife
Caoimhe (pron kee-va)
Catriona
Ciara
Éilish
Méabh
Niamh (pron Neeve)
Sinéad
SiobhánBoys:
Ciarán
Conor (oddly, never Connor)
Éamonn or Éamon
Euan
Fionn
Iain
Niall
Padraic
Ronan
SeánWDYT?Dan (my fiance) and I both really want to give at least some of our kids Gaelic names. So far these are the ones we agree on (in order of preference)Boys: Ronan, Fionn (pron Finn), Eamonn, Euan,
Girls: Aislinn, Sinead, Ciara (becoming too popular)Only problem as far as I can see is mispronunciation.. but then again, Australia is pretty multicultural... they'll get used to it!
