Swantje is a Frisian (and maybe Dutch?) pet form of names beginning with the element Swan, like Swanhild(e). "Swan" indeed means "swan", and "-tje" is a deminutive. The name Svenja is also related to Swantje; it is *not* a feminine form of Sven, as this site claims.
