I really like both names. Very nice.

I'm increasingly liking Olive. It's so refreshing next to the overused Olivia, although I'm the first to admit Olivia is prettier.

I think Olive Catherine has a very elegant, old-fashioned sound and feel to it; however, expect you daughter to endure some teasing. (Even with a benign moniker like Korrine, I was still Korrine Abdul-Jabbar [sp?], after Kareem, the NBA player, in elementary school). I love Blue as a mn; I have a friend named Meghann Blue, sister Carrie Blue. Sophia Blue sounds very elegant, too, imo.

No one seems to realize the name is for the symbolic tree, do they? "Olive branch" is what I think of. I like the name - it has an unusual, lovely sound.

Sure, you and your daughter would have to steel yourselves for a few jokes, but really -- I think it's much better than being yet another Olivia.

It's nice in itself but reminds me of Olive Oil, Popeye's wife...

Olive is nmsaa. I just think of Popeye's girlfriend-not a pretty picture-or an actual olive! Olive green is a drab color...I just don't find it that attractive and much prefer Olivia. However, Olive Catherine is a nice combo.

Sophia Blue is okay.

Olive is nmsaa. It reminds me way too much of olives which I don't like. However, Olive Catherine is a very nice sounding combo and has an old-fashioned, almost forgotten elegance.

Any kind of olives make me sick, so I could never imagine naming my child after them. The only assoication I can make with an Olive is the girl from Popeye.

As nice as the name Olive may be, I think there could be a significant teasing potential--especially in elementary school (to a bunch of 8 year olds, the name is something you put on pizza, something you put on your finger tips for fun at Thanksgiving, or Popeye's girlfriend). That's not to say I don't like the name, it's just to say I wouldn't like having that name growing up.

Since the name is meaningful to you, you might consider using Olivia as a fn (more familiar and less ready-to-eat than Olive) or you might consider using Olive as a mn. Eg. Catherine Olive.

Sophia Blue - I really love Sophia , Blue isnt my style but it flows nicely with Sophia

Olive is nms but its a lovely combo with a great flow.

Sophia Blue is beautiful! I've always liked the name Blue as a mn for boys but its lovely on a girl. Sophia is one of my favourite names.
