It is 1930. Bob and Beth have now both retired. All the kids have left the house, and Bob is volunteering at a charity hospital in San Francisco. Victoria and Henry had a daughter four years ago named Leah. Unfortunately, Leah died of unknown causes while she was an infant. Last year, they welcomed another daughter whom they named Mary. Mary is healthy and her brothers absolutely love her. Andrew and Amelia now have a daughter, named Laura after Andrew's older sister who died as a child. They haven't been able to have other children yet, though they want them badly. Jamie got into the oil business and owns several pipelines in Mississippi and Louisiana. He isn't married yet, but lives in the South.

Maggie and her husband are still having children. They now have eight kids. The kids are all very close and are a bit shy around their cousins.
Dora and Oscar make a point of bringing their children out here several times a year. The children, Rosie and Felix, are paticularly close to each other which reminds me of Dora and Maggie.
Andy, Naomi, and Ally are all great... and still in Boston. Although this is a disapointment to us (as granparents) we feel blessed that their business is still very sucessful in this difficult time.

So far, Mack has kept his head above water within the factory since the Stock Market plummeted last year. He is, though, looking for a place closer to Will, Colette and their children in the countryside so that if things do get rough within the city, he and the rest of the family will be able to somewhat sustain themselves better. Mack and Josie were born into poverty, raised in poverty and are hopeful that they can use their past experience to keep themselves alive. Nat is still in college thanks to government help with the tuition. He met a woman, Theresa McKay, two years ago and they have married this year. Betsy and John have had two children,

Johan and Cajsa welcomed two more sons into their family. Abraham was born in 1926 and Konrad was born on grandpa Karl's birthday in 1928.
