I think that Braxton does show a big enough jump not only in Australia but also in New Zealand and England that there must have been some pop culture influence. However, this didn't apply to the USA.
The reality TV show "Braxton Family Values" debuted in the USA in 2011. IF this show was then shown in other English-speaking countries starting in late 2011 or early 2012, it might partially account for this. But I have no idea if that program was available in Australia, NZ, and the UK. Someone from those countries would have to tell us.
