Re: What is the origin of Kellina? n/t
in reply to a message by Kelly
My given name is Kellina. I happened upon the name when my parents (both brunettes) were expecting another brunette child. They had already picked out the name Mallory. Quite a suprise when the found that I am a redhead! Anyway, to them, Mallory didn't fit, so my father made up the name on the spot. He explains that "Kelly" is possibly Gaelic for "bright-headed" and "-ina" is Latin for "little" (ex. Thumbelina meaning "little thumb"). So, at least to my father, Kellina means "little bright-headed girl". I don't think this really counts as an origin, but that is where I got the name from!
