HelpNon-Traditional Family Congrats -Round 1
Welcome!
In round one, each family is going to receive a single baby. The name is your choice this round and the gender was simply that every other person had a boy/girl. Nothing special this round. Instead, in this round, I need you to establish this family a bit so that I know where I stand with everyone’s stories. In future rounds, I will try to design your family around the information you have given me about them.
In your reply, tell me, how your family came to have their child (birth, adoption, etc). Tell me about this baby and how the family is adjusting to the addition. (This may be done in three sentences or three chapters. It’s up to you. Pictures are cool as well.)
For those of you who had families already expecting a child, this is that baby so you’ll probably have to repeat yourself a bit.
Note: I have left the families the same as you posted them so they may not be uniform, but all you’ll have to do is copy and paste. For those of you that have ages, updates must be made by you.
Some of you guys have awesome stories, by the way! I'm excited to read more about them.

Logan & Benji have recently welcomed a son, whom they have named Smith Valjean. Their little boy came to them with the help of a surrogate, a lovely woman they found via an agency. There was much debate once they decided to go down that path as to which of them would be the biological father, but they couldn't decide on a fair way to do that so they decided to let fate decide. Their surrogate was implanted with two embryos, one biologically related to Logan, and the other to Benji. Only one took however, and they do not know, nor do they care, which of them is Smith's biological father at this point, though they realise that it may become obvious as Smith gets older.
Now, Smith Valjean is obviously a rather unusual name, but Logan & Benji love it as their baby is named after two of their all time favorite characters... Smith Jerrod from Sex and the City, and Jean Valjean from Les Miserables.

Sebastian knew Luca wanted a baby. It was in the way she held her nieces and nephews and in the way that she admired other people’s children in shopping malls and on the covers of tabloid magazines while waiting at the checkout. When they passed Kids R Us and Baby Gap, her eyes always lingered just a little too long to be considered “glancing.” Still, Luca said nothing so Sebastian said nothing.
Years went by that way until one day Luca was at a family gathering, holding her cousin’s infant daughter and Sebastian found himself leaning over to her, saying softly, “You’d make a great mom.”
“Sebastian, don’t,” Luca replied as the smile seemed to slip off her face. “Please don’t.”
Sebastian was caught off guard. He thought it would be easier than that. He waited another two days before approaching the subject again, this time when they were home alone.
“Do you think we’d make good parents?” he asked. There was another celebrity baby on the cover of the People magazine in Luca’s hands.
Luca looked up from the magazine with a look more sad than Sebastian had been prepared for.
“I can’t have a baby, Sebastian. It doesn’t work that way,” she replied, her voice was tense.
Sebastian sat down on the loveseat a little more closely than he had to and put his arm around her middle. “I didn’t say anything about that. I said, ’Do you think we’d be good parents?’”
Luca closed the magazine and left it in her lap. “I’d like to be,“ she admitted.

Somehow the topic grew abandoned again and wasn’t brought up for at least another month when Sebastian came home from work and found Luca arriving home at the same time. Sebastian was home a little earlier than usual and Luca looked startled to see him. Then Sebastian spotted the box in the passenger seat.

It seemed like the end of their family, but turned out to be a new beginning...
Just as Clarisse started her last semester of university, Vanessa and her got into a big fight. While Clarisse was following her dream to become a writer, Vanessa felt trapped working to support her and Maurice instead of getting an education herself. And even though it wouldn't take long anymore until Clarisse graduated, Vanessa said she couldn't take it anymore, packed up her things and left.
Clarisse was devastated. They had made the agreement that Vanessa would go to school later, and she had not realised her girlfriend was never really satisfied with the idea. She was hurt and overall worried, as she had not herd a word of her since the break up. To add to her distress, she found out her grandfather had died. Even if she had been able to afford it, she could not come to his funeral - it had taken place weeks ago, and nobody had bothered to contact her. Somehow she managed to get through the last months of university; luckily Maurice was in school by now, and with the help of some good friends, they could get by.
It was at her graduation ceremony that she saw Vanessa again. As she walked off of the stage, her diploma in her hands, happy that she had made it, but full of worries about the future, she spotted a familiar face in the crowd. Giving no heed to the order they had been told to stay in until the end of the ceremony, she ran to see Vanessa. Tears in their eyes, they hugged. Without waiting for the rest of the long list of graduates to be read out, they headed home and spent the whole night talking.
Vanessa had left in a fury, lived with a friend for a while, and started dating a guy she met at work, but had soon realised she had never stopped loving Clarisse. She had felt horrible about leaving her and Maurice, and missed them terribly. Vanessa broke up with her boyfriend... only to realise a few weeks later that she was pregnant. She had wanted to go and talk to Clarisse, but now she was afraid of how she would react. One of their friends that had helped taking care of Maurice finally managed to contact Vanessa and convinced her to come to the graduation.

Meera knows that in the future, she'd like Claudia to have some siblings, but she doesn't feel like, right now, that she could ever find another man she'd want to marry. Though she wants to wait until Claudia is a bit older to have more kids, Meera is considering adoption or possibly going to the sperm bank...

Charlotte got her wish three months ago in the form of a lovely toddler from Germany, Theodore is a sweet little boy and took to Charlotte almost instantly. He doesn't speak much English but Charlotte has been slowly teaching him and he gets along rather well with Simon.
Shaina is taking night classes at the local college to get her diploma and has been doing well. She doesn't talk with Alex often at all, once a month at most, and is starting to miss him less and less with time. She misses her parents and older brother and sister often though, sometimes finding herself crying just because she's reminded of them.
Whenever Shaina has a free moment she spends it with Simon and Theodore, teaching them how to build forts made out of pillows and chairs and helping Simon walk, though he cries when she picks him up when he doesn't want it, and she makes a wonderful Mother.
Rachael has flourished in the last year, making many friends and doing well in school. She has also found a LGBTQ+ friendly church, since she still believes in God, and has been attending and helping out with a few of their fundraisers.

Natalie & Elijah are expecting their 2nd child together, a girl. They've decided to name her Trinity Vivienne. Jeremy, Bridget, William, and Garrett understand to the extend that they'll have a new sibling. Bridget is very excited to have a sister! Audrey and Chloe as also very happy to have another "daughter" in the family, they love new additions. Audrey also feels envious because she and Elijah have yet to have children together, but it'll happen soon.

Deciding to become a single mom was easy compared to deciding how to become one. It took four months of research and soul-searching before she decided to have her first through donor insemination. After selecting a sperm bank, she poured through donor profiles before picking the perfect donor: tall, musical, athletic, dark-haired, and dark-eyed. Problem was...she didn't get pregnant. After six failed cycles, she decided to switch donors, but her second choice was no longer available, and her third choice was sold out.
Looking over the site, a new donor, 118E, caught her eye. He wasn't what she thought she was looking for--being a business major like herself, with red hair, blue eyes, and only average height--but there was something about him. Maybe it was the sense of humor that was obvious even in the brief profile. She noticed that his ID number 118 contained her birthday, and the E...for Elinor? Suddenly, it felt like fate, and she called the bank back and purchased every 118E vial available.
Nine months later, Elinor welcomed red-haired, gorgeous Estella Kathleen into the world. Kathleen was chosen to honor Elinor's mother, and Estella was picked because holding her new daughter made Elinor feel like she could reach out and touch the stars. Pressing a kiss to her baby's brow, Elinor couldn't believe she was a mother at last. Even though it was too soon to consider a second child, she couldn't help but think of the five vials still in storage, just waiting for the right time to bring Stella a baby brother or sister.

Adrian and Linus decided that Linus would be the biological father of their first child. The first attempt of artificial insemination was successful and Aurelia became pregnant. Everyone was thrilled about the new baby, except Aurelia's parents who didn't accept Aurelia's choice of having a child with a gay couple. Pregnancy was quite easy and nine months later Aurelia gave birth to a baby girl, Lyla. Lyla was named after Adrian's grandmother who raised him and who has always been very supportive to her grandson's non-traditional family. Aurelia wanted her firstborn to have her last name as a middle name. All three new parents are adjusting greatly to parenthood. Aurelia, who is an artist, works at home as usual. Adrian, a librarian, and Linus, an emergency nurse, have been adjusting their work schedules so that they can spend as much time as possible with their new daughter. Aurelia, Adrian and Linus want Lyla to have more siblings but they want to wait at least two years. Next time Adrian will be the biological father.

Adrian and Linus decided that Linus would be the biological father of their first child. The first attempt of artificial insemination was successful and Aurelia became pregnant. Everyone was thrilled about the new baby, except Aurelia's parents who didn't accept Aurelia's choice of having a child with a gay couple. Pregnancy was quite easy and nine months later Aurelia gave birth to a baby girl, Lyla. Lyla was named after Adrian's grandmother who raised him and who has always been very supportive to her grandson's non-traditional family. Aurelia wanted her firstborn to have her last name as a middle name. All three new parents are adjusting greatly to parenthood. Aurelia, who is an artist, works at home as usual. Adrian, a librarian, and Linus, an emergency nurse, have been adjusting their work schedules so that they can spend as much time as possible with their new daughter. Aurelia, Adrian and Linus want Lyla to have more siblings but they want to wait at least two years. Next time Adrian will be the biological father.

The name they chose was Sophie Rose, and when she arrived they discovered it was the perfect name. The baby was born with Leo's golden-brown hair and bright rosy cheeks, and her eyes are a strangely dark blue that everyone is sure will turn brown like Amelia's. Lily and Bennie are enamored of their baby sister, and Amelia and Leo are both totally in love with her.

Elliot, Sophia and Cora couldn't wait to get a baby in the house. Both Sophia and Cora wanted to be the one to give birth to the first child, and they didn't seem to come to a conclusion. So instead, they both tried to get pregnant with Elliot. After a couple of weeks Sophia realized that she wasn't pregnant, but Cora was. In the beginning Sophia was mad, sad, and felt that she didn't belong in Elliot's life.
Cora had a rather easy pregnancy and just gave birth to a baby girl. They all three discussed names and in the end, she was named Julia. And after her birth everything to much better for Sophia. She realized this wasn't about giving birth to the first child. It was about love, and Elliot loved them both equally.
Sophia is looking forward to being pregnant. She and Cora has even made some jokes about being pregnant at the same time. But who knows, this might become reality!

Winnie was delighted when she was able to fall pregnant quickly after using the services of the sperm bank, especially after the long hours she'd spent agonising over which donor to use. She wanted her little girl to look like her, so picked one with similar features; dark hair, blue eyes, reasonably tall... Her pregnancy went relatively easily, very little morning sickness and she felt great most days. Her parents came to give support during the birth of her little girl, her mother holding her hand as she gave birth to little Zinnia. Zinnia was beautiful, born with a mop of damp black hair and sapphire blue eyes. They bonded immediately, and it was at that point Winnie knew she could do this alone. Her and her daughter were the entire world.
