Britt's Kingdom Congrats Sign-Up
I was having trouble coming up with an original idea for a new congrats game, so I'm taking my two signature games, the fairytale congrats and the kingdom congrats, and combining them. In this game, all fairytales take place in the same kingdom. This is how it will work:
The king and queen will be mentioned, but not played. Their children will be the princes and princesses from traditional fairytales. The first to sign up, whether prince or princess, will be Heir Apparent and inherit the throne at some point in the game. The non-royal fairytales will make the rest of the kingdom. You can also adapt a story so it is non-royal. The set-up and categories will be the same as my regular kingdom congrats: Royal Family, The Nobility, The Wealthy and Influential, The Foreign Presence, the Populace. As usual, the first sign-up as a royal child will set the language and tone for the game. Some suggestions for stories to use in each category:
Royal Family: Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, but any where one of the characters is a born royal can be used.
Nobility: Any fairytale can really be used here, just turn the characters into nobles. Rumplestiltskin and Rapunzel are two that could work particularly well with this.
Wealthy and Influential: Like with nobility, almost any tale could be converted to make the “prince” a orator or general. All of the stories about merchants’ children would work here too.
Foreign Presence: This is where stories from all over the world would be really interesting to see, such as from the Arabian Nights or Baba Yaga cycles. Myths can also be used here.
The Populace: Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel are the first to come to mind. Since many of these deal with children, feel free to make up a spouse.
Note to first Sign-Up: the language does NOT have to be German or French. Since this is another world, you can use any language.
Feel free to use any story you want—as long as the main character doesn’t die in the end, or there is an alternate TRADITIONAL (i.e. not Disney) version of the story where the main character lives, feel free to do anything you want! You can use any fairytale you like, even the lesser-known ones. A good site to get started is www.surlalunefairytales.com, but you don’t have to use stories only on this site.
Prompt for Sign-Up: In the Kingdom of Tayl, where magic is a matter-of-course and everyone who’s anyone has a fairy godmother or two, the royal city upon Atyme Hill is full of much rejoicing and celebration. The king and queen’s beloved children, after wading through magical muck enough to fill several enchanted swamps, have all married, and the entire kingdom approves of the matches. Though not all the new spouses are high-ranking, all have proven themselves adept at dealing with magic, a skill not to be sneezed at in a land where a sneeze in the wrong direction can bring the curse of a vindictive enchanter down on you.

****I'm doing this from a slightly different POV where in Liliane is actually one of the step-sisters to Viatrix's Belle as Cinderella - hope that's ok!****
Liliane was born into wealth and priviledge. Her father, Gaspard, was a highly respected nobleman, and her mother's lineage was second only to that of the royal family themselves. From a very young age, Liliane's mother Genevieve groomed her to be suitable bride one day for the heir to the throne, Prince Adam, and it was a position that Liliane happily aspired to. Their lives changed however when one horrible day Liliane's dear Papa was murdered on the road by highway men, leaving Genevieve a widow. Now, Gaspard was a wealthy man so upon his death there wasn't really much difference to the lifestyle Liliane lead, but her mother didn't make a very good widow and quickly remarried. Liliane was devastated that her mother could rip her away from the home she grew up in and betray the memory of her beloved Papa and became a very angry young woman who's dreams of one day escaping to the palace as Prince Adam's bride became her utmost priority so she would finally escape from her mother, who she had come to loathe...

Story: The Swan Maiden
(Just a summary, I'll add more later).
Lilia, was the youngest of 7 daughters of a Sorcerer. She and her sisters had the power to turn into swans at will. One day, she and her sisters were bathing in the lake and had taken off their swan skins. Tomas, the hunter, saw Lilia and stole her skin, preventing her from flying away when her sisters left.
Lilia saw that Tomas had her skin and begged and begged to get it back. Finally, he agreed, but only if she would marry him. She agreed, but said that he must first ask her father, the Sorcerer.
Tomas agreed and followed Lilia's instructions to reach the Sorcerer's house. The Sorcerer agreed Tomas could marry one of his daughters if he completed 3 tasks. The tasks were rigged, however, and only with Lilia's advice did Tomas succeed. After the tasks were completed, the Sorcerer said Tomas could choose any of the seven daughters. Yet, they all were spelled to look alike. Lilia, had lost a toe during one of the tasks and this way, Tomas was able to choose her.
The two were married with the reluctant blessing of the Sorcerer...

Story: The Ill-Fated Princess
Natasa had always felt different, so when her mother finally told her she was, in fact, different, it came as no surprise. Her mother said it was her fault that her sisters, Katerina and Thekla, couldn't get married. It had something to do with her "fate" but Natasa never understood what. Natasa felt horribly, she didn't want to keep Katerina and Thekla from marriage. Natasa made her mother sew her dowry inside the hem of her dress, and with that, Natasa left her home. Her mother, shocked that she had forced her daughter away, begged her to come home, but Natasa's mind was made up.
Natasa stayed with a clothier. One morning, she woke up to find all of the beautiful clothes destroyed. The clothier blamed her and her fate and he sent her away. She then stayed with a glass maker. But again, she woke up one morning to her landlord's destroyed wares. And again, she and her fate were blamed. She left the glass maker, and while searching for a new residence, she met the queen of a neighboring country. She told the queen everything that had happened to her. The queen soon realized that Natasa's fate was evil.
The queen told Natasa that she must change her fate, or else she would never find a permanent home. Natasa was sent to the top of a mountain, where she offered her fate some bread, hoping it would agree to change. Her fate, however, refused to change. After resisting for many weeks, her fate finally changed and it gave her a spool of silk thread. Upon departing, her fate told her to only give it away in exchange for its weight in gold.

Story: Sleeping Beauty
Flora, the baby of the family, was very used to magic making her siblings' lives miserable. Her brother Adam, for example, in a moment of pettishness, insulted an enchantress and was cursed for years--rather unfairly, Flora always thought, as her brother had been suffering a wretched toothache at the time and was really a most hospitable person. She had only been six when he was cursed and he had been one of her favorite people.
Though she was accustomed to magic affecting her siblings' lives, she certainly wasn't accustomed to it affecting hers. As the baby and a princess besides, she had been rather mercilessly spoiled, lavished with attention and affection and anything she wanted. But she had an affectionate and cheerful disposition, a generous heart, and a very good brain. She was so charming and kind, had such a sweet voice, and was so wise-beyond-her-years that it was almost unfair that she was beautiful too--rosy cheeks, thick dark hair, vivid blue eyes, long lashes, and a graceful figure. But it was almost impossible not to love her, and she made so many friends with all kinds of children in and outside the palace that it was sometimes hard for her parents and nurses and governesses to keep up with them all.

The morning after the soldier, Sergei, followed the twelve Grand Duchesses to the Underworld, he went to the Tsar to tell him what he had found out. As promised, the Tsar made him the Heir Apparent to the throne on the condition that he choose one of his daughters to marry. Because the soldier was no longer young, it was more suitable that he choose the oldest, but on his sojourn with the women to the Underworld, he had seen the cleverness and kindness of the youngest, and asked for her hand instead.
I used the ending of a traditional French version instead (the original had the soldier marry the oldest) because I thought it more fitting. I also changed the "nation" to Russia.

After recovering the lamp which caused his dreams to come true, Aladdin and his wife, Badroulabadour (whom he affectionately calls "Jasmine," for that is, apparently, what her favorite perfume smells like) settle down to start a family. Both are deeply in love, despite Jasmine's knowledge that her husband's wealth was mystically bequeathed to him. She no longer feels that money is necessary for happiness, though they never really have to worry about money (her father is Emperor, of course). They love to spend time walking along the streets with the rest of the citizens, if only to remind them that, first and foremost, they are human (equals to the rest of the nation).

Just to clarify...
Were you planning on the naming language being French, or a mixture of European languages? Everything seems French but Ferdinand, so I just thought I'd make sure so everyone else knows.

A mixture of European languages... I was thinking it'd be open to any European language (rather than specific) just for more naming choices and flexibility.. is that ok?
Perfect, just making sure
