"Jamayah" (if I am thinking of the same thing you are is pron JA'-myah) is widely used to indicate universities, like "al-jamyah Notre Dame," for example, would be the university of ND.
in the context of "reunion" it could be said that "jamyah" is like a council or gathering or group, which reunion could fall under.
