Janice
My name is Janice. It's pronounced Juh niece not Janus like the two-faced goddess. The only information I can find is for the latter. All I know is that my Irish great grandma named my Irish/Cherokee grandma Janice back in the 30's. I don't know if that helps with origin or not... But I thought it may be French because the nice is pronounce like Nice, France. But I have no idea! Maybe my great grandma was just being creative. Thank you in advance for any information.

Then again the city Nice was named by the Greeks after the goddess Nike. But I don't know if that matters.

Janice is an elaborated form of Jane (click the links for more info). "Juh niece" is probably just a variant pronunciation.

If that is the case I feel bad for getting irritated when people pronounce it Janus. It's not that I dislike that name, it's just that it's not my name. I guess I'm not familiar with how "creative" people were in naming their children in the 1930's. Thank you.

If I were to ever come into contact with a Janice I would assume it was pronounced "JAN-iss" because that is the only way I've ever heard it said. I like the "ja-NEECE" pronunciation but it would never be my first guess. You can't really get mad at people for pronouncing a name the way it has historically been said

Janice is not actually a French name. It's an English name, but some people do pronounce it in a French-influenced way.
