Hi i am trying to find the background for the name Nirah.
Its pronounced "NY Rah"
Its my great-grandmothers name, my grandmother,mother and my middle name and i would like to name my unborn Nirah if it a girl.
All we know is the name goes back to my great-grandmothers great-grandmother (so my 4x great-grandmother)
My family thinks it may belong to Aboriginal history as my whole family on my mother's siter is full'blooded Aborigines.
Any help would be great.

I do not know about Aboriginal names but there is a Hebrew name Nira/Nirah. There is also Susan Nirah Jaffee mentioned in the credits of "King of Queens".

There is a female Maori name Ngaire that is pronounced something like nye-ree or nye-reh. It is usally spelled Nyree when Anglosized. Nirah could be another English version of it.
