I am Swedish and I've never heard the name Alveda. Are you sure it was Alveda? There are two similar names, Alva and Alida.

My great grandmother went by Veda. I recently learn her middle name was actually Alveda. She was Swedish but born in the US then immigrated to Canada after she got married. I would love to know the meaning too. Wondering if it could a be variation on Alvah which was also common in that family tree.
