meaning of Kerith
Okay, my real name is Kerith. it can also be written as Carrith. I want to know what it means. My parents have told me it is a body of water or it means water but I'm not sure. Also if anyone knew the language of origin, that would be great too. If anyone has any answers, then send them to Katthar@excite.com. thanks

Pretty close. "Kerith" is a place in Hebrew, a ravine and BROOK east of Jerusalem where God sent the prophet Elijah for refreshment. See I Kings 17:3-7.
Sorry, but I couldn't locate the exact meaning.

The Hebrew name of the brook Kerith (pronounced "keh-REETH") literally means "a cut". It comes from the root word "kah-RAHTH" which means "to cut off", "to cut down", "to cut asunder", implying "to destroy".

In context it means ravine, a natural "cutting" made or occupied by the stream of the same name.
I’m KERITH too my parents took the name in the bible 1 King 17:3-5
My mothers name is Keith she is an evil vile woman with multiple abuse allegations against her.
I am also a Kerith. My parents got the name from a James Michener book called THE SOURCE taking place during archaeic times with Kerith being a Jewish princess who defies her family, leaves her husband and runs off with a poor musician.
Thank you for the definition and root word meaning. That is great!
