I'll bet your Dad is a soccer fan and you were born sometime in the 1970s. Am I psychic? Possibly. :)
I'm guessing this, because the internationally famous Brazilian soccer player known by the singular name of "Jairzinho" was perhaps at the height of his glory around that time, and just possibly you were named after him?
See, Jairzinho's real name is: "Jair Ventura Filho" -- but he goes by the nickname of "Jairzinho". The Brazilian ending of "-zinho" turns the name "Jair" into a diminutive, or nickname -- just as the American ending of "-ie" turns "Steve" into the diminutive of "Stevie", and "Bert" into the diminutive of "Bertie".
