Twins from my family tree
I was looking at my mom’s family tree today and found 7 sets of twins and, ngl, they’re a little embarrassing LOL. It’s important to note that almost all of my mom’s family are Mennonite and since the Mennonites kind of live in a vacuum their naming styles/trends really reflect that. Betty & Bertha (1940s; they would be the Aunts/Great Aunts/Great Great Aunts of the following sets of twins; also, fun fact they married brothers)(All of these sets are either 1st, 2nd or 3rd cousins)Lucille & Lucinda (1980s)
Marvin & Marlin (1990s)
Taryn (g) & Tyler (b) (2000s)
Larina & Larissa (2010s)
Kaitlyn & Kayleigh (2010s)
Garrett & Gavin (2010s)Personally I don’t hate when twins share first initials, as long as the names are otherwise distinct (different endings or amount of syllables for example), which is why I actually like Betty & Bertha, even though they share the same two first letters, the strong “T” and soft “Th” sounds plus the “EE” and “Uh” endings are different enough so that they flow well and, imo, aren’t too matchy-matchy. This is also why I dislike the other sets, Marvin & Marlin especially are far too similar and confusing.
If you want, keeping a name from each combo what would you rename their twin?

My grandmother is a twin. Karon and Sharon. She’s always told me if I have twins to not give them rhyming names. I love Scarlett and Charlotte, but I would not name siblings this.Betty&Helen
Lucille&Jennifer
Marvin&Mike
Taryn&Jason
Larina&Lily
Kaitlyn&Katherine
Garrett&DeclanNo clue why these names popped into my head!

Karon and Sharon are definitely very matchy, I can understand how that would be annoying to grow up with!Betty & Helen and Larina & Lily are cute choices!

I like Lucinda and Lucille separately, as well as Tyler and Gavin! If I were to rename one from each then:
Betty and Clara
Lucinda and Stella
Marlin and Edward
Tyler and Freya
Larissa and Helena
Kaitlyn and Lauren
Gavin and Miles

In a vacuum, lol.I don't think any of them should be embarrassing. They're all decent. Marvin, Lucille, and Lucinda are pretty dowdy in their era, and I personally wouldn't give rhymey twin names, but they're not cringe-inducing. Lucille & Lucinda and Larina & Larissa are too close for my taste, just because they couldn't use the nicknames Luci / Lari.Lucinda & Miranda
Marlin & Raynor
Tyler & Shaina
Larissa & Daria
Kaitlyn & Katrina
Garrett & Duncan

Some other names I found:
My Something-Uncle married a Beulah Fern, 3 Adlai ’s (father & son + a nephew/cousin), 2 Clair ’s (boys & one was Clair Eugene, so handsome imo!), Selestia (who married a Titus, they sound like a power-couple!), Marilla, Cecily, sisters Delilah & Diantha (they had other siblings but their names were boring), 3 Minerva ’s, Corinthia and Jacobie, Jakoby & Jacoby (not directly related).

Most of these twin pairs are too similar for my comfort level but a couple of them are tolerable (eg. Betty & Bertha as well as Taryn & Tyler). If I could mix & match with the pairs...Larissa & Lucille
Garrett & Tyler
Lucinda & Marvin

Larissa & Lucille would be much nicer!
