Brutus
Useable? On a human? I have fond feelings for this name. It has a bad meaning, I know, but it is just so loveable.
edit: Btn says Brutus means "heavy" which is not bad at all. I had always thought it meant "Stupid".

In old histories, he's the founder of Britain. I think it would be usable if you were very posh, and he'd be in a boarding school full of other oddly-named kids. (Maybe we should become posh and start one.)
There is something indefinably cuddly about it! - but that might be because I associate it with big cuddly dogs.

It already exists - goes by the name of Hogwarts ...
A lot of American commenters on the Harry Potter books focus on the characters' names, and imagine what a hard time they'd have at school, quite overlooking the fact that they'd all be at school with each other and would therefore fit in perfectly.

Well, Brutus is usable... for a bullmastiff.
I've never liked it. I don't think it's usable.
It's not usable, and it's very pretentious.
How can a name that means stupid be pretentious? Well, if I am anything in life, it is pretentious
*gets back on high horse. named Brutus*

As a GP? Wonderful. Asking someone else to go through life as a Brutus? Not fair.
Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today. But the "brute" part of Brutus is a syllable too far for me. And the assassination / betrayal angle isn't pretty either. Now, on a pet it would work very well, especially a small one for humor.
I think Bruno is more usable than Brutus.
All of that said, I have to say that Marcus Junius Brutus is a fabulous combination. I'm especially drawn to Junius (and Junia).

I actually really like the idea of Brutus on a horse... but you're right, it would be great on a small animal.
