Aeronwy's Medieval/Royal Cogratulations ~ Round The First
So, a few words before we begin:--I'm going to set up a prompt/backstory/plot each round with lots of open-ended question and opportunities for your family to participate. It's up to you to weave yourself into the story and drive the plot, so it can become as twisty-turny as you guys like. Because of the nature of this congrats, make sure to read everyone else's posts so you don't miss anything important.--This takes place in the early middle ages, ca. 1130, in a country based on England. The nobility hierarchy is as such, from highest to lowest: King, Duke, Earl, (Vis)count, Baron. Noble titles are hereditary, but only to the eldest son. However, noble titles can be given by the King to those he deems worthy.--If you miss more than three rounds, I'm going to kill off your family in an interesting way. :-P--Due to the time period, not all children will survive.
--------------------------------------------The prosperous island nation of Angleterra has just crowned a new king: King Henry I, eldest son of King Charles, has taken the throne. He throws a large coronation banquet and invites all of the landed nobility, as well as his loyal army. Among the eating and merriment, there are whispers--there is a plot to overthrow the young king. Who is at the forefront, and who is involved? Where do the nobles align themselves--with the young king or with the promises of power once he is deposed? As the year goes on, the conspirators grow in number and in strength, and by the end of the year, a decisive plan of action is made. What does it entail, and how will it come to pass? How does the recent birth of an heir to the throne affect their plans?

Just a little nitpickIs their any Hebrew equivalent to nobility besides Melech and Malka? Because blue_belle's family is the reigning one, and it is sort of confusing.

Ohh...This is confusing. Why are we all a part of the same plot?

Didn't you read my first post? It's a different way of doing a congrats. I thought it would be fun/interesting for all the families to be interconnected and part of the same plot.

Knight: John William Spencer
Dame: Mary Elizabeth Spencer
-S: Robert William SpencerIt was with much joy the Spencers welcomed their first child, a son they named Robert William. A few months later they attended the coronation banquet for King Henry I. As the Crown Equerry John Spencer is dependent on the king and the court for his job the rumours about the plans to overthrow the new king worried him. The new king had made it clear that the people working for him would keep their positions. It was not in his interest to destroy what his father had created; a well-functioning royal court. John Spencer decided to not openly take sides but he was supporting the king. As a new father and responsible not only for himself but also for his wife and infant son, it would be devastating if he lost both his high postion in the royal court and his home. However, the Spencers were unexpectedly approached by Baron FitzGilbert and asked to become the godparents to their son Lord Luke Francis. They accepted but on the condition that George fund the building of their house. At least the Spencers would have a home if the king was overthrown and aligning themselves with the FitzGilberts also meant that they were indirectly supporting the king.
Background
The Crown Equerry, the Gentleman of the Horse, John William Spencer is responible for the practical management of the Royal Stables, which is a high court appointment. Spencer comes from a noble family but it is now a poor family with few estates and not much land at all. However, unlike many of his relatives Spencer has been very succesful in his life and has become a very important part of the royal court. He loves his work in the Royal Stables and he lives for free in a little house close to the stables. He has recently married Mary Elizabeth Smith, a young commoner with very distant noble relatives. The marriage was not a result of love but Mary and John respect and care for each other. For Mary it is also an opportunity to enjoy the life of the royal court as she is now a court servant. Overall, she is content with her life as she married above herself and John William Spencer is a good man.

And, thought they they cannot be sure if the monarchy will survive the next few years, Francis and Kate give full support to the young king (Kate's cousin). Their young son is named, in part after the young prince.

Butler: Andrew Patrick Mullinix (23)
Dresser: Jocelyn Laura Mullinix (20)
-D: Sandra Morgaine Mullinix (nb)Just about the time for the royal coronation, Jocelyn gave birth to little Sandra Morgaine. Sandra was very small and looked unhealthy pale. Jocelyn was afraid that Sandra's life was about to end before it had even begun. But Andrew told her not to worry, but to feed Sandra generously. Jocelyn did so, and while the months passed, Sandra started to look lively. Still, she looked very petit compared to Neven, the son of the royal cook Amy, who also happend to be Jocelyn's best friend.
Since the Royal Stables are pretty close to the cabin where the Mullinix family lives, Jocelyn and Sandra have bumbed in to Mary Spencer and her young son a couple of times too. Jocelyn instantly liked Mary, and found her son absolutely gorgeous, but isn't sure if it's appropriate that she, a simple dresser, talks to the wife of a knight... But she sure hopes so, especially since Sandra and the Spencer son seem to get a long great together.
Jocelyn dresses the queen, and find her beautiful, charming and a wonderful queen. After just three days as her royal dresser, Jocelyn was convinced she was the best queen to be find. Jocelyn remains 100 % in favor for the king and queen. Andrew, on the other hand, scowls at Jocelyn.
"My dear, you're are too naïve," he says to her. He thinks the King is snobbish and more caught up by love than politics. He'd wish for .. someone like the Duke's eldest son, Nethanel as a king instead. But he knows his place, and keep his mouth well shut about his opinions. Still, if Nethanel would ever ask for his help, Andrew would help him instantly (Andrew has only met Nethanel a couple of times, but Nethanel reminds him of his younger brother and Andrew really likes him)! In return, Andrew could wed his children to Nethanel's sisters and brothers, and his children could have the luxury and royalty that Andrew's family once had.

Baron: George Thomas FitzGilbert, 3rd Baron FitzGilbert (33)
Lady: Jane nee Greytonne (16)
Lord: Luke Francis (nb)The FitzGilbert's recently celebrated the birth of their first son, a sickly looking child, they named Luke Francis, Luke after St. Luke who being a physician the couple hoped he would intercede for their child, and Francis after Jane's father, the late Francis, Marquis Gromwald. George needed to find a suitable set of godparents for his child, so he settled on asking Sir John Spencer and his wife Lady Mary. George had met Sir John once at one of George's preaching events in the North. George needed to find a time to ask the Spencers and settled on the coronation banquet for the new King & Queen. While Baron FitzGilbert was not at all fond of these events, he new his wife would appreciate a chance to go to court and leave the isolation of the Northern Fells. The FitzGilbert's arrived at the banquet and immediately heard rumours of a planned rebellion against the new King. George felt that he couldn't support such a plan as he believed the King ruled by Divine Right and only the LORD could remove him, by death no less. Jane on the other hand, was unsure what to think of it all, since the King, Henry, had spurned her advances in her youth, and even had an affair with her older flirtatious sister Margaret, and the new Queen Morgana had once been a friend but they had a falling out upon hearing that Jane was going to marry that 'Most Ignoble of Nobles' George FitzGilbert.George managed to talk to the Spencers, who accepted the responsibility of being Luke's godparents on the condition that George fund the building of their house, which, as George felt he had no need for his possessions freely did.Other than the Spencers, the other gathered at the Banquet tended to ignore George and his pious ramblings, althought the Butler Andrew was taken by Jane's elven-like features and the Court Jester , The Amazing Ren, parodied one of George's famous sermons.

Court Jester: Renato Konstantin "The Amazing Ren" Macario (26)
Cook: Verena Amika "Amy" Macario (20)
-S: Neven Dragomir Macario (0)Amy became pregnant very shortly after marrying Ren, and their beautiful little son Neven was already several months old by the time the new king was coronated. Both Amy and Ren were very busy during the banquet, she with cooking the feast and he with entertaining the courtiers. The queen's dresser Jocelyn was good enough to look after Neven for the evening; she and Amy had become friends during their coinciding pregnancies and hoped that their kids would be as well. As one might expect of a jester, Ren was fond of children and especially enjoyed having so many of them around to amaze with his juggling and tumbling and silly jokes. He did his best to cheer up the offspring of Baron Hiram, as they had just lost their youngest sister and still appeared rather heartbroken. Roland and Duke Elijah's twins Ariel and Peninnah seemed most thrilled by the antics, the rambunctious threesome becoming quite inseparable. The twins' parents, however, were another story. Duke Elijah and Duchess Adina barely even smirked the whole evening, not even when Ren recited his bawdy poetry (no one resisted his bawdy poetry!). The two whispered and glared at King Henry most of the night. One of Amy's kitchen girls later reported that she'd heard snippets of suspicious murmurs passing between them. Amy warned Jocelyn to warn her husband to keep a close eye out for threats to the king. She was right to worry: in the weeks and months to follow, Amy frequently came across dishes and goblets that were destined for the royal family but seemed... off. She always discarded anything that seemed suspicious, becoming slightly paranoid and doing her best not to let the royal food out of her sight. She was sure that someone in her kitchen was tampering with the meals but couldn't manage to pinpoint the culprit. She'd worked for the royal family for her entire life and couldn't imagine why anyone would try to harm them.

Count: Ezio Alessandro [Auditore] da Firenze (26)
Countess: Rosa Maddalena [de Magianis] da Firenze (24)
-S: Federico Antonio "Fede" (nb)
Just a while after Ezio and Rosa came to settle in the Villa Auditore, their previously more volatile relationship began to settle down. Gradually, the two began to act more couple-like, and it seems like whatever doubts both had at first were beginning to thaw. Nearly a year after they moved to Angleterra, a baby Auditore is born to the couple. The boy, Federico Antonio - or Fede, as he is often called - brought a lot of life and frantic efforts with him as the young count and countess tried to accommodate a wailing baby into their daily life.Meanwhile, King Henry I has just been coronated, and the Auditore family found themselves uninvited (which is not a surprise, seeing as they were not exactly known visitors to Angleterra). Rosa took the news gladly - she was much too busy by Fede to attend a banquet - but Ezio seemed to be a bit more concerned with it.Soon, rumours came through that someone is planning to overthrow the new king. Ezio was perplexed - who would want to do so, and why? He pondered long after which side he should take, and finally decided to get to the bottom of things before doing anything rash. Thus Ezio spent more of his time outside the Villa Auditore, listening to rumours and gleaning information about Henry I and the plan for the coup d'etat. What Ezio heard about the new King did not satisfy him. Yes, he ruled well, and yes, he was handsome (excruciatingly so, since Ezio has his ego and Henry's good looks became the talk of the local ladies instead of his now), but it is Henry's attitude that made Ezio irritated. The arrogant, quick-to-anger new king reminded him too much of one of his old adversaries. While Ezio has his suspicions of Henry, he decided to remain on the prowl for more news before making major decisions that might risk Rosa and Fede.

King: Henry Philip Arthur James (HRH Henry I of Angleterra) (25)
Queen: Morgana Roslindis Briar Jane (Queen Consort of Angleterra) (18)
-S: Tristan Leopold Arthur Charles (HRH Prince Tristan) (nb)After the death of his father King Charles, Henry was ready to be king. After a brief period of mourning, the coronation of Henry I brought much happiness, the entire Kingdom of Angleterra was in a celebratory mood. Henry was keen to throw the most self-indulgent banquet money could afford, and made sure to invite all the landed nobility, as well as his loyal army. Henry, a notorious flirt, took the opportunity of a large feast to be on the lookout for anyone who might ‘tickle his fancy’, so to speak. To his displeasure, he spotted Lady Jane FitzGilbert, and was quickly reminded of the brief and ugly affair he had had with her sister, Lady Margaret. He recalled how he had spurned Jane’s own advances towards him, as he had been determined to marry Margaret, and would not settle for second best. Unfortunately, the affair turned sour as Henry soon discovered that Maragret had lied about being betrothed to another, and he could not, by law, marry her. Lost in his thoughts, it was then that Henry spotted her, exchanging a few heated words with Lady Jane, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, he was mesmerized, he had to know her name, “Lady Morgana, the daughter of an ailing noble”, answered Henry’s most trusted advisor, Lord Bartholomew, for Henry saw him as a surrogate father. It was love at first sight, their chemistry was electrifying. Too lost in Morgana’s charms to notice anything else, Henry heard a brief murmur about a plot to overthrow him as King, yet being young, reckless and ‘in love’, he did not care at that moment. Morgana, meanwhile, was determined to woo King Henry by the order of her dying father, who was determined to see his only child happy and wealthy. She had heard Henry was extremely handsome, and he did not disappoint her. She had been invited to the coronation of the new king, and was immediately taken by his tall, dark and handsome stature – the task at hand no longer seemed like a job. Unfortunately, her once good friend Lady Jane was also in attendance, and the two exchanged a few heated words. Morgana highly disapproved of Jane’s husband, Baron George FitzGilbert, who Morgana viewed as a loser, and as Jane was his wife, her reputation, in Morgana’s eyes, had been tainted as well.

Just nitpicking...I think I was unclear. Ezio and Rosa's surname is Auditore. Da Firenze simply means "of Florence", so I think you just called them "Mr and Mrs from Florence".As I said, just nitpicking.

Duke: Bronimir Alvey (6th Duke of Elestra) [24]
Duchess: Melisende "Melly" Alvey [20]
-S: Isaac Cristóbal Alvey [nb]A few months after Bronomir and Melisende's first child, Isaac, was born, they were invited to the new king's coronation banquet. It was a joyous occasion to the newlywed couple, for they were able to meet back up with old friends from the court, and make some new acquaintances as well. Melisende was overjoyed when she glimpsed the Baroness Elissa, an old friend of hers, sitting over near the fireplace. They had a lengthy chat about what was new and reminisced about old times. Melisende was sad to hear about Elissa's stillborn daughter Aileen, and tried her best to comfort her.Bronomir also saw a few people he knew as well. One of these were Elijah and Adina, a couple who had babysat him once or twice from back before his father had died. They talked a little while, but it was clear that they were not as enthusiastic as he was, so he decided to mind his own business. As he started walking away, he saw them whispering again out of the corner of his eye, and suspected that they were up to no good. He also noticed Duke Francis of Itand and his wife, Katarina. They talked for a while, and learned that they also had a son who was just born, just like Bronomir and Melisende did. During one point in their conversation, Duke Francis brought up that there were rumors going around that there was a plot rising up against the young king. Bronomir automatically suspected Elijah and Adina, but quickly erased such thoughts from his head. He told himself that he would, however, keep two eyes open for possible suspicious activity against the newly crowned king, to whom Bronomir was already extremely loyal.

--DS/DD: Zephaniah Truman James / Matilda Anastasia Theophania (1)

Hiram was filled with grief at the loss of his third child. Darius and Roland were sorrowful when the news was broken to them, for they were excited to have another step-sibling. Zephaniah and Matilda, who didn't understand, wanted to know where their baby brother or sister was. Hiram had to explain to them that their little sibling wasn't born alive. Matilda understood. "Oh," she said, her little tears running down her soft, baby cheeks. Zephaniah didn't understand. He was angry that he couldn't see his sister. Hiram and Elissa finally decided to allow Zephaniah to see the corpse of his stillborn sister. Their little boy visibly paled at the sight of the little body that would have been his sister if she had lived. The tears ran down his cheeks, as Elissa tucked him into her loving arms. Zephaniah finally got that his sister didn't even get to see the world. It was a month or so after Elissa gave birth to the still born Aileen that the coronation banquet was held. While there she got to associate with many people she hadn't seen for long stretches of time, including her parents and siblings. Hiram had introduced her to the son of one of his parents' friends whom he had known since he was little, despite the fact that Elijah was seventeen years-older than him, when he had married Elissa. Now, one of the first people she spotted, was Duke Elijah's wife, Adina. Elissa and Adina had become good friends when they first met and they now talked over dinner. Hiram and Elijah talked as well. Hiram and Elissa didn't know about Elijah and Adina's conspiracy, otherwise they wouldn't have been associating with them, for they were very loyal to the young king. They heard the rumors and didn't like the sound of them.

They plan on sneaking groud-up apple seeds into the Royal Family's wine/milk and then claiming that Nethanel is the 'true' King once all three are dead.Nethanel was surprised when Lady Guinevere caught him in the library and started talking to him but, after a few minutes of stammering on his part, she engaged him in conversation about books. He finds her kind and learned and he has found himself wanting to propose for the past several months.
Delilah has found that she absolutely loves making Lord Geoffrey blush, which doesn't seem to be hard at all. What's odd, for her anyway, is that she seems to be falling hard for him and finds that he can make her blush just by smiling at her a certain way.
Stephen is still training with his Knight-Master and Daniel rarely leaves his room because he loves the view from up there.
Only Miriam knows about her parents' plans and is torn up over whether to tell the King and his wife or not - she was always taught to never disobey her parents but she likes the Royal Family.
Ariel & Peninnah have been attempting to convince Darius and Roland to play with them for most of the year since they are the only noble children around their age at court.
Baby Dorcas is an extremely small bundle that cries constantly, driving Elijah and Adina mad, but Daniel often takes her into his room when she starts to cry and that seems to calm her down a lot. He often finds himself drawing her because her expression changes constantly and it amazes him.

Bartholomew is pleased to see King Charles' eldest son take the throne--Charles was a mentor and a friend of his, and Bartholomew has watched Henry grow up. On his deathbed, Charles requested that Bartholomew watch over his son during his reign and Bartholomew swore to protect him, an oath he assures the new King he will take very seriously. Over mulled wine and spiced meat, he hears rumors of an uprising against Henry. He dismisses them as just talk now, and resumes to enjoy himself, but resolves to keep a close eye on the situation in case it escalates to anything that he would need to take action about.Guinevere and Geoffrey enjoy socializing with Duke Elijah's children, the only other people their age at the banquet. Geoffrey, who is on the shy side, does not know what to do with Delilah's advances, but Guinevere finds herself quite taken with Nethanel, being that they both loved to read.
