Does anyone ever make silly little things in your stories like, um..I'm not sure if you'd call them a play on words or what, but heres and example.I have a script with a girl in it named Estella Sterling. Both names mean star.Um..I have a Dr. Chloris in one of my scripts. In mythology Chloris has two children named Nestor and Pero so in my script she has Tory and Pera.Get it? Am I the only one or are their more that do these things to humour themselves?-Seda*

I happen to write on my free time, and in one of my stories there is a girl who has fainting spells, during which deceased people speak to her. Her name is Morana Euphemia, or "death speaks".

Characters are my outlet for using names so weird I'd never use them in real life. And for "trying out" the ones I might use, to see what they'd be like. Zil and Jola are characters in a story inspired by a dream I had, so it sort of makes sense that they have no meaning .. I never thought much about the meanings (so superficial am I sometimes), but I try to get the name's origin to have something to do with the character's life or heritage. Dr. Chloris, Tory, and Pera are neat - a subtle way to indulge your interest in names. I wish I'd thought of it.Right now I'm stalling before I have to name a character I'll be in a game. I am not sure what name I want to use, but once I name her I'm committed. I thought of using Ascelot, because the meaning is unknown but it looks a little bit like "ask a lot." And I'm going to be asking a lot, because I've never played the game before!- chazda

I like that!I still love Jola, but I consider it a take off Jolie and to mean "pretty".-Seda*

I've done things similar to that. I have a character in a developing story named Sylvia Fox. In mythology Silvia was the mother of Remus and Romulus, who ere actually raised by wolves and I'v always associated foxes with wolves. And Sylvia Fox has a dog named Remy. Another reason I gave her the last name Fox is because she's sort of a cunning character.I don't really have any others like that, since I usually just give characters names relating to people I know or random ones I happen to like. I think it's awesome though, and your's is very well done. :)

I named a set of twins Alice and Perdita... Perdita disappeared and Alice had to go on a quest to find out what happened to her sister... Perdita means "lost" and Alice is "truth." (or at least that's what my source at the time said.) I've also named a character Brutus Delgado ("heavy" and "thin" if my memory serves... he was a mob boss). Recently I named a character Holiday, and she's quite happy-go-lucky...I also wrote a city called Cressidia once, derived from Cressida. It totally fit.I also named a character Lysander without knowing what it meant, and it turned out to fit really well. In that story, there's also Alastair Alain, James, and Grace, and Guy. (edited once for clarification and once to add Cressidia and again to add Lysander & co.)
A is for Amy who fell down the stairs, B is for Basil assaulted by bears, C is for Clara who wasted away, D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh... !!!!!!!!!! - Tobias, Jesse, Wyatt, Shane, Preston, Maverick, Rebel, Gibson, Shiloh, and Timber

I've never considered Holiday for a name, but that's cute.Perdita and Alice are cute. You Grace reminded me of my ice-skater story of a girl named Gracie. You have to be graceful in order to be an ice-skater. hehe.-Seda*
