I honestly don't think Candy is that bad of a name, maybe it's because I like Candy but whatever.
I think this is a really cute nickname for Cassandra too! I personally love super sweet, cutesy vintage nicknames like this, they don’t fit everyone but when they do it’s darling.

Is cute and whateva.
Adorable nickname for Candace!
Candy no no no! Candy is food. How is Candy a name? When I hear “Candy” as a given name, I think of a immature girl with pink or blond hair who is a porn star or stripper. Candy, along with Candi, are both terrible names and should never be used. Candice isn’t too bad compared to Candy. Give your child a real name, or they probably won’t get very far in life.
Cute! I like Candy, too!
It is a pretty nickname for Candice or Candace.
Okay as a nickname but horrible as a legal name.
Candy Southern is the name of Angel's girlfriend in the original X-Men comics starting in the 60s.
Roy Thomas and Werner Roth named her after the book Candy by Southern and Hoffenberg - another Candy namesake.
If we're intelligent beings, then we can remove any ignorant stereotypes some people are associating, and recognise Candy is a pretty name. Still, in English, it and its variations are too informal as a legal name, but can work well as a short form of the formal name, or a double name - short form of the formal name with a middle name such as Candy Lee, Candy-Rae, Candy-rose, etc. As a given or middle name, a suitable option is "Chandi" (or Khandi) - a formal name, most popular in India that means fierce goddess in Sanskrit. Variety is the spice of life and if so desired and within reason, it's perfectly okay to be creative and use, or substitute the original short form Candy for one of its many variations with its many possibilities as a formal name that work just as well. Every name in existence is a creation and authors have often themselves, long since been creating names that the public has adopted, and with English being a composite language, there's much room for spelling variations of personal names. Other decent variations for Candy (same pronunciation), that can also be substituted with the letter K: Candi, Candea, Candie, Candey, Candye, Chandi. Other attractive options of the formal names Candace and Candice (same/similar pronunciation) that can also be substituted with the letter K, or as with Sanskrit "Chandi", the letters Ch/Kh, making its orthography correct: Candas, Candes, Candis, Candys, Candess, Candiss, Candyss, Candase, Candise, Candyce, Candyse, Candesse, Candisse, Candysse.

The name Candy (and Caddy) originated from, and has been used as a diminutive of Candace since the 17th century, and later also its French version Candice when it was adopted in the 20th century. It's an attractive name that ages well, yet too informal as a given name. The bearer can wear it well and be taken seriously if as a short form of its formal name, or as a double name from a short form of the formal name with the middle name. Not recommended as a legal name.
When my mom was 10 years old, she had a pet Rabbit named Candy. I think that this is an adorable name.
My name is Candy (just Candy), and I LOVE Candy. I eat Candy almost every day.
Sounds like a stripper name. The bearer will have a hard time being taken seriously. Candance is better.
First thing I thought of was a spoiled kid from like Gacha or something.
Candy Crowley.
I’m from China and this name is really popular, many girls chose this as their English name because they want to be sweet just like a Candy. I like the full form Candace but Candy is too old-fashioned and just way too "trashy" (no offense to anyone who was named or goes by "Candy"). It was the name of a tropical storm in 1968 that made landfall in Texas.
Sorry, but I strongly agree with all those who dislike this name. I didn't even realize it until I had a coworker of this name and I couldn't bring myself to say it out loud. Usually don't care that much, but it just doesn't sound proper for a respectable grown woman.
I am a Candy and for a long time I really did not like my name. I am not a Candi or a Candace it is Candy. And all of the comments about it sounds 'ditzy' or like a 'floozy's' or a 'hooker' name had a negative impression on me as a child. I tried to go by some other name but it never worked. Over the years I have gotten used to it and even like it now. I realized that it was just people's ignorance that made me feel bad about my name, my mom used to tell me I got my name because I am sweet, and over the years I have learned to tune out all of the negative comments and the 'floozy' insinuations. So all of you Candy haters can just continue to be jealous, my mom was right, I am sweet!
This name makes me think of a bleached blonde, orange-skinned bimbo who wears revealing clothing, dates multiple guys at once, and weighs less than a 5-year-old.
Candy Chiu, a pun on "Candy chew", is a character on the recently ended Disney cartoon, Gravity Falls.
Candy Rae-Fleur, is known for being the girlfriend of Daley Blind.
I like this as a nickname and for a dog/cat.

I am surprised no one mentioned Carole Gene "Candy" Spelling (born 1945). She's well over 50 now and still uses it. I associate the name with her.
I love the sound of "Candy" as a name, and have no idea how it's supposed to sound trashy or stripperish or stupid... other than that one might assume the parents were attempting to be "cutesy" or something, but even then, it really doesn't sound overly frilly or saccharine (ironically.) The only association I have with the name is actually "hippie," due to the Candy Warren girl from "The Tale of Locker 22" from "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" One of those things that just sticks with you forever, and that's what I hear/think of when considering the name. I even prefer it to Candace, although I'd definitely use it as a nickname for that more formal name, rather than on its own.
I love this name, and would totally name my daughter it, but since so many women with this name get rude comments about how stripperish/trashy it sounds, I think she'd resent me for it.
It's funny to me how so many people are saying that this name sounds frilly/slutty/stupid. I like it. Especially if it were a nickname for a girl named Candace.
Candy Dulfer is a smooth jazz saxophonist. She was influential to other female smooth jazz saxophonists such as Mindi Abair.
Wow. How incredibly ignorant. My name happens to be Candy. While I do get the occasional jerk who likes to take a cheap shot about my name, it just highlights how little class they have. I love my name, and those who knocked it calling it trashy and such need to get over yourselves. If you are going to jump to conclusions over someone's name, well, you're probably not worth my time anyway.
King Candy (also known as Turbo) is the antagonist in the Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph.
What a sad society we live in when the automatic reaction to a name like Candy is that it is for strippers, hookers, or "trashy" people. Nonsense.
Thank you "linden-tree-murmur" for your comment.
My formal name is Candace, however, I prefer to be called Candy. A majority of these comments are extremely offensive... sad how judgmental people are. Sorry to disappoint most of you but I am not, nor ever have been a stripper, pole dancer, porn star. Etc. I am a beautiful sister, mother and daughter to the parents who named me.
Whenever I find names like this (Word names) I ALWAYS see people complaining about how it's "Trashy" and a "Porn star" name. People are so ridiculous. I think the name is cute and very sweet. I have a friend who goes by Candy but her name is Candace. :)
No way! This name sounds like a trashy stripper or porn star name. It also makes the bearer look dumb, especially when spelled Candi, Kandi, Candee, or Kandee.
I beg of you, do not name your child Candy.
Not only does it sound undignified, it has such a stigma attached to it; see above! People can only see Candy on a stripper, or a pole dancer.
This name makes me want to puke. If I ever had a daughter, I would NOT EVER name her Candy. It's even worse than "Kay" or "Chloe".
It reminds me of some-one who is very sweet! However, it is often used as a stage name by people in the uhhh, "sex" industry and that just ruins for people.
I thought this was a cool name when I was, like, twelve. Now it just strikes me as the type of name you give your daughter when you have no higher aspirations for her than a stripper or perpetual resident of the trailer park. Just about sums up everything that goes wrong when you name or even nickname your daughter Candy.
How about just name your kid "Coco" or "Suger" or something like that? This name makes me think of those girls in miniskirts with annoying little voices that can't even read.

Candy Suxxx (real name Candice Shand) is a prostitute and porn star in Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
This name makes me think of a porn star or a stripper.
Candy would be a cute nickname for Candice if so many people didn't have their heads in the gutter. I used to really like this nickname, but all things considered I wouldn't give it to a child.
This name is tolerable, but only if it's short for something like Candace. It should NEVER be used as a name on its own.
I really mean no offence to anyone with this name but it always makes me think of a hooker.
The name is simply too cutesy and immature, and a woman named Candy would have a hard time trying to be taken seriously.
This would be a cute nickname for a friend of a relative, but in my opinion it's very stripper sounding. You know, because strippers seem to always pick names after foods for some reason.
I like *eating* Candy.

My great Aunt's name is Candy. I think it's nice as a nickname to Candance, but not a name on its own.
I kinda like the name. My friends name is Candace. But I call her Candy.
This is like naming your kid Sugar or Coco. It's kind of silly sounding.
I don't like this name for a person but I like it for a cat.
Candy is not a bad name. It is cute and fun! So stop judging people.
It's a cute nickname, but I would never use it as a real name.
Again, whatever the spelling this name screams 'TACKY!'
The first Candy I ever knew was not a person, but a dog. A very old, three-legged dog my grandparents had. I can't recall much about her except that she was middle-sized and black. Candy's kind of cute, but not very grown-up sounding. I just can't imagine a Judge Candy Cooper, whereas I have no trouble envisioning a Judge Candace Cooper.
I think that Candy is a very cute name. You are just all ignorant, who could say that the name only fits a bimbo, I mean not all Candy's are stupid blondes. You make all people feel bad if they have the name and they are blondes. I mean not all blondes are bimbos! So Candy is not a bimbo name!
Try to picture a 50 year old with the name Candy. Would it still suit them?
Yummers! I love Candy! Also kinda trendy!
My friends, and some family, call me Candy, only in informal situations. Personally, I don't care what anyone thinks about it; I know I'm an intelligent, respectable person, and like the anonymous user said: it's a perfect name for someone with a sweet personality!
Stupid name!
I think the name Candy is sweet for a 5 year old but you wouldn't want a 60 year old walking around with the name Candy.
This is my grandma's first name. She got it changed from Carmel Ball to Candy Ball. In my opinion, I don't think it was much of a change.
I like the nickname Candy. I think it's cute and perfect for someone with a sweet personality!
My name is Candi, and yes I have taken my share of comments over the years.
Honestly, I like my name. My husband says it reflects my personality, sweet. :-) That works for me.

Funny story - I knew a woman with the surname Cotton. Her parents almost named her Candy, but didn't. She was very grateful.
Always reminds me of a bimbo.
It sounds too ditzy to me, it sounds like a floozy's name (my apologies). "Candy"/"Candi" is undignified. "Candace" is a lovely name; use it.
