Meaning & History

From Ancient Greek Φερενδάτης (Pherendā́tēs), a Hellenized form of Old Persian Farnahdātah, from Old Persian *farnāh "glory" and 𐎭𐎠𐎫 (d-a-t) "given, created". This was the name of an Achaemenid satrap of ancient Egypt in the early 5th century BCE, at the time of the Achaemenid 27th Dynasty of Egypt.
