It could possibly derive from Egyptian ḥw "utterance" (also the name of the god Hu 2) or ḥwj "to strike, hit, beat" or "to tread (a road)". This was the name of the last pharaoh of the Third Dynasty of Egypt during the Old Kingdom period.
