Meaning & History
Probably taken directly from the Ancient Greek word κορυφή (koryphe) meaning "top of the head, crown; top, apex; mountain peak", or figuratively "excellence". This was the name of one of the Oceanids in Greek mythology. In some versions of the myth, she was the mother of Coria by Zeus.
