Possibly derived from the Italian, “Larvall”, meaning, “to wash”. A notable character with this name is Officer Larvell Jones from Police Academy (played wonderfully by the lovably hilarious Michael Winslow), who is known for his incredible talent of making realistic sounds/imitations. Winslow has been dubbed “The Man of 10,000 Sounds”. He appeared in all seven of the classic Police Academy movies of the 1980s-90s.
