Meaning & History
Potawatomi language is Central Algonquian language. This name, my name, means "root woman" Kwe is a suffix to indicate feminine derivations of words. Technically it should have a space between Jibek meaning "root" and Kwe meaning "woman". This translates, by my namer to "I am the root that grounds my family in love". In our culture, until we are named, The Great Creator/Spirit/God can only see the top of our heads. We choose someone to be our namer; they can then accept and pray on the name to give us or refuse as they are led.
