Meaning & History
The first element of this name is derived from the Lithuanian verb rimti meaning "to calm down, to quieten". It is related to the Lithuanian adjective ramus meaning "calm, quiet, peaceful" (see RAMŪNAS) and the Lithuanian noun ramybė meaning "tranquility, peace, quiet". The second element of this name is derived from Lithuanian daug meaning "much" (see DAUMANTAS). As such, the meaning of this name is basically "a lot of calmness" and thus likely refers to a person who is very calm and quiet.
