Coined by Sándor Makkai, a Reformed bishop from Transylvania, for a character in his novel 'Sárga vihar' (1934) and subsequently used among the Hungarians of Transylvania and the Unitarian Church. The name is said to be of Turkic or Cuman origin and allegedly means "reliable".
